Mode of Action
- Tebuconazole inhibits ergosterol biosynthesis, a key component of fungal cell membranes.
- The mode of action is through inhibition of the enzyme C14-demethylase, part of the cytochrome P450
- This leads to disruption of membrane formation, resulting in growth inhibition and death of fungal cells.
- Acts as a protectant, curative, and eradicant fungicide.
- Systemic in nature — absorbed through leaves, stems, and roots and translocated throughout the plant.
Applications
Used to control a broad spectrum of fungal diseases in major crops:
- Cereals: Rusts, smuts, and leaf spots
